What is a DANA and why is it dangerous
A DANA (Isolated Depression at High Levels) is a pocket of cold air detached from the polar jet stream that becomes trapped over warmer regions. When it sits over the warm Mediterranean Sea, it triggers extreme atmospheric instability and torrential rainfall, making it the leading cause of the most devastating flash floods on the Iberian Peninsula.
